On August 20, the presentation of Giorgi Masalkini’s book – “Polyethnicity and Polyreligiousness of Georgia – Threat or an Advantage to Treasure” was held in Batumi. The book was published by the Civic IDEA Library of the Virtual Democracy Academy.

On July 8th, the Civic IDEA hosted the last webinar on “Liberal Views and Responses Worldwide: Be Aware or Be Next”. Webinar speakers were: Tauno Tohk – Strategic Communications Expert at the European External Action Service; Martina Hrvolova – Program Officer for Europe and Eurasia at the Center for International Private Expertise (CIPE); Ani Kintsurashvili – Lead Researcher at Civic IDEA, Georgia.

On May 27th, the Civic IDEA hosted the seventh webinar on “COVID 19 – How Did Georgian Democracy Meet the Challenges of the Pandemic?” Webinar speakers were: David Usupashvili- Lelo for Georgia, Former Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia; Ana Dolidze – Member of the Council of Justice of Georgia; Elene Khoshtaria – Member of the Parliament of Georgia – European Georgia; Sandro Baramidze – Former Deputy Minister of Justice – Free Democrats; Tamar Kordzaia – former member of parliament, Republican Party; Shamil Shugaev – Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom, Chief Project Coordinator.

The one-week workshop on “Protracted Conflicts: Current Challenges and Future Perspectives in the Caucasus” in Berlin, August 10 – 15, 2020

The workshop, which is the heart of the project will bring together 20 young scholars, graduates, advanced students and civil society activists from all over the Caucasus and international experts in the field of conflict studies and peacebuilding. The gathering is a combination of a small conference, training, and regional exchange. During the workshop, the participants can present their research and practical experience on issues related to the topic and receive feedback from their peers and international experts. Furthermore, participants will receive training on vital skills like academic writing, advocacy or scenario-building.

We will also produce the joint print and online publication “Corridors-Proceedings Vol. II”

Thanks to the generous funding of the German Federal Office (#CivilSocietyCooperation), we can cover the project related costs, including travel, accommodation, full board, and excursions.
